Lagos Govt plans to turn Sabo Industrial Estate to ICT hub

Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Wednesday said plans had been concluded to turn Industrial Estate in Sabo, Yaba to an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) hub.

Ambode, who made this known during his inspection tour of the estate, described it as “the next Silicon Valley’’.

The governor was in company with a former Minister of Communication and Technology, Mrs Omobola Johnson.

According to him, restructuring of the area will create more employment opportunities for youths, and also boost innovation and creativity.

He said that the state government would continue to create the enabling environment for youths, as the future leaders, to showcase their talents.

The governor said that the state government would also tap into the tourism, entertainment and sports value chain to drive the state’s economy and make it an excellent investment destination.

He reiterated his commitment to assist the entrepreneurs and support their concepts through the Employment Trust Fund.

Ambode also said that a “light’’ industrial park would be established in Ikorodu area of the state.

He said that work would commence next month on the popular Ladipo International Spare-parts Market Road and Alhaji Akinwunmi Street in Mushin Area of the state.

The governor said that a multi-layered car park would be constructed somewhere in the area to give it a face-lift. (NAN)
