Lagos State Promises 114 New roads by June

The Lagos State Government has promised that the ongoing inner Road construction in the 57 Local Government Areas, LGAs, of the state will be ready by June, 2016.

The road projects which according to the state government will cost about N17.5 billion are being constructed to meet with standard specifications.

The promise was made by the Commissioner for Local Government And Community Affairs, Muslim Folami during a news conference on Tuesday in Alausa.

He said that the contractors have all promised the completion of the project to meet its six months deadline adding that they’ve also been paid up to 30 percent of the funds needed to carry out the contract which kicked off in January.

He continued; “On assumption of office, the governor directed the executive secretaries of the councils to submit the names of two roads each in their councils. He further directed the executive secretaries to award the contract to eligible companies and follow due process.

“I have been monitoring the constructions and we are satisfied with the progress of the work so far.”
