The Ministry of Information and Culture has debunked a statement credited to the Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed in which he allegedly called on Cubana Group Chairman, Obi Iyiegbu aka Obi Cubana, to loan money to Nigeria.

Recall that Obi Cubana has been the talk of the town in the last few days over the manner he buried his mother in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Photos and videos circulating on social media showed Obi Cubana and his friends spraying money with reckless abandon.

A report by an online medium read in part, “Obi Cubana has this kind of money and Nigeria is borrowing money from China. Cubana should borrow us money, Nigeria is collapsing- Lai Mohammed”.

Responding to the report via its verified Facebook page, the ministry stamped a “Fake News” tag on the report.
