The Nigerian Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has reacted to the alleged division between the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo and his boss, the President, Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that the Acting President made a quick trip to the United Kingdom to brief the Nigerian President who has been away since May 7 on medical vacation.

The Information Minister while reacting to the alleged rift between the Acting President, the President and some ministers stated that such speculations are baseless and untrue.

Lai Mohammed while speaking with newsmen at an event organised by the Aviation Round Table in Lagos said: “There is no division between the Acting President and the Cabinet, there is no division between the Acting President and Mr President.”

The Information minister in his interview further called on the Nigerian media to be diligent and responsible in reporting stories particularly those regarding hate speeches.

He noted: “Most of the people who consume these hate speeches don’t know much better, otherwise they will know that there is absolutely no truth in what is being circulated. All these talks about division, I think they are just fictions of the imagination but they have a purpose which is to weaken this government, to ensure that we are distracted and I’m happy that we as a government, we are resolved that this is a very trying time of Nigeria and we must all put in our best to ensure that this country remains one.”
