Laolu Senbanjo, The Nigerian Body Artist Behind Beyonce’s Lemonade Visual Album

Laolu Senbanjo is a Nigerian born body artist based in Brooklyn and is right now getting the well deserved applauds and attention needed as he’s the artist behind American Superstar, Beyonce’s Lemonade Visual Album.

Laolu revealed he could not wait for the album to be out so he could expressly and freely talk about how excited he was working with Beyonce.

Following the Album release on Saturday night, Laolu has been in the limelight across social media platforms as Vogue called him their “new Instagram obsession,”. In the same vein, ABC News held a special interview with the Brooklyn-based, Nigerian born artist.

Senbajo who trained as a human rights lawyer in Nigeria told OkayAfrica during a chat that he was invited by Beyonce’s management to decorate the Singer and her dancers with his signature design.

He added that: “It was crazy because I couldn’t say no,”

“If Queen B wants you … It was so unreal. I just left everything I was doing.”

The artist however admits to drawing inspiration from his Nigerian roots as his website stated: “All of my work is heavily influenced by my Yoruba heritage and often related to the environment I find myself in.”
