Lawan’s appointment of Festus Adedayo as media aide generates controversy

Senate President Ahmed Lawan’s decision to appoint Dr. Festus Adedayo as his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity is presently generating a social media storm.

Lawan announced the appointment in a Tuesday statement signed by Betty Okoroh, his special adviser on administration.

He said the appointment of Adedayo, who is the President of Housing Development Network, a lawyer and former banker, was done on merit.

The Herald can report that Adedayo bagged a PhD in political communication from University of Ibadan and is a member of editorial board of Tribune newspapers.

He is also a former media adviser to former Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi and former Enugu State Governor, Chimaroke Nnamani.

However, Adedayo’s has generated ruckus on social media, with many commentators calling him “anti-APC”, his new principal’s political party.
