In its bid to ensure a clean environment during and after Sallah, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), said it had commenced distribution of trash bags to residents.

LAWMA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Olumuyiwa Adejokun, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the free waste bags would be given out through the Private Sector Partners at various locations across the state.

According to him, the distribution of the bags is aimed at ensuring the proper bagging of refuse during the Eid-el-Fitri celebration.

“There are members of staff that will be working with LAWMA trucks; there are also designated PSPs to attend to all household services.

“Residents should ask for their free trash bags from their PSP operators during the sallah holiday.

“They should ensure that all wastes are properly bagged for easy pick up and evacuation; the operators collected 200 bags each on Monday to share during this sallah holiday.’’

Adejokun, however, warned that dumping of refuse on the road medians, drains and water channels or disposal through cart pushers would not be tolerated.

He urged residents to call for back up or to lodge complaints on 5577 and 07080601020. (NAN)
