Assemblyman Terkaa Ucha representing Tiev state constituency in the Benue House of Assembly, has appealed to Dangote Industries Limited to construct roads in the state as was being planned for other states.

Ucha made the call in a statement he signed and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Makurdi.

He noted that the company had pledged to commence road construction in Lagos, Bauchi, Kaduna and Ogun states.

Ucha expressed displeasure that Benue was not included in the list of states to benefit from the pilot road construction scheme.

“I am aware that most of the roads in the state federal or state are deplorable, thereby causing incessant road mishaps.”

According to him, the limestone which is a major raw material for cement production is being extracted at Tse-Kucha, a community in Gboko Local Government Area of the state.

”The high quality limestone deposit in the state provides the raw material that feeds Dangote Industries Limited cement companies in other locations.”

The lawmaker said that the state ought to have featured prominently among other benefitting states, considering the abundance of limestone extracted from the state.

He appealed to the company to rehabilitate the Makurdi-Gboko-Lessel-Ihugh-Vandeikya roads, considering its importance in the movement of human beings and goods. (NAN)
