The Official Spokesperson for the 2023 APC Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo SAN has said presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu did not say he was not granting live interviews because he “is contesting for Nigerian President, not Media President”.

An online media platform (not The Herald) had attributed the quote to Tinubu.

The online report fuelled social media reactions that Tinubu has been avoiding media interviews due to ill-health and lack of capacity.

Reacting to the report, Keyamo told Vanguard that it was “fake news”, noting that campaigns have not started.

He explained that when campaigns officially kick-off, “the nation will hear from him (Tinubu) again and again and again.”

The Herald earlier reported that Keyamo debunked a report that Tinubu was denied a visa into the United States due to ill-health.

The report alleged that Tinubu had booked an appointment with the country’s President, Joe Biden “in order to discuss his ambition and possibility of the US support” but the US Embassy in Nigeria denied him a visa.

Keyamo described the report as “fake news” borne out of “desperation”.
