Lyon Playmaker, Nabil Fekir has put behind him the disappointment of a failed transfer to Liverpool and is now fully focused on the new season

The France international was a bit part player in France’s World Cup success and with a World Cup medal to his name, he is now prepared for the new challenges ahead of him.

Fekir almost became a Liverpool player after agreeing personal terms with the club, but ultimately the move fell apart.

Fekir said the incident is now behind him. He said: “It’s true that being world champion is very good. But life goes on.

“That’s not why we have to stop working. There is a good season ahead with Lyon and we must prepare quietly”

Liverpool went on a shopping spree this summer adding, Naby Keita, Fabinho, Allison and Xherdan Shaqiri  and they are being touted to be Manchester City’s closest rivals.

The Frenchman said the missed opportunity is now behind him, “Yes, the missed transfer to Liverpool is totally digested. These are things that happen. It’s like that. We must advance. It’s ancient history.

“I heard several things. The real reason is that they (Liverpool) only know it”

It remains to be seen if Liverpool will rue the missed chance, but so far they have won both of their opening games and look in good form to continue winning.

On the French front, Fekir said that he expects PSG to be a huge challenge but that his team will do everything within their power to compete.

“Like every season, we want to try to do the maximum in the league. The podium is a goal of the club. After there is the PSG, a great team with great players, we know that it will be complicated.

“My goals are always high. Like at the beginning of the season, I set big goals, but honestly there are no specific goals or anything. I try to help the team to the maximum and play all the competitions thoroughly” he said
