John Abang, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Chairman for the 12th Nigerian Police Games tagged “Anambra 2020”, on Tuesday in Awka lauded the performance of athletes at the ongoing games.
Abang, who is the Commissioner of Police in Anambra, made the commendation while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said the competition had progressed as programmed in terms of facilities and logistics.
“So far, the Games has been wonderful. The events are going on at the various venues as scheduled and there are no hitches.
“Our athletes have been well behaved. They have shown a good spirit of sportsmanship and positive competition.
“It is expected that, after this Games, Nigeria will have a new breed of champions from the Police because the Police have been a factory for world champions in all sports,” Abang said.
The LOC chairman lauded the Anambra government for putting up a high level of organisation within a short time.
“The spill-over effect will remain for a long time for the people of the state to reap rewards from.’’
NAN reports that at the ongoing Games, competition has ended in events such as scrabble and taekwondo.
The 10-day competition for the men and women of the Nigeria Police Force had started on Saturday.
