London patient cured of AIDS after stem cell transplant

Another patient has been cured of HIV/AIDs after a stem cell transplant.

This was revealed in a report published by London researchers on Tuesday. The patient, who became HIV positive in 2003, treated cancer in 2016 with stem cell transplant.

The stem cell donor was said to have a gene mutation, capable of strengthening the patient’s immune system against AIDS.

The London patient would be the second person on whom the cure attempt would be successful.
