Looted funds enough to fuel the country’s budget for three years – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu declared yesterday in a meeting with Prof. Wole Soyinka that the funds lost to corruption and looting by the country could have successfully funded three years of the country’s budget’s.

During the casual meeting which held in Ikeja, Lagos State as reported by Sahara Reporter, Mr Magu made the shocking revelation to the 1986 winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Wole Soyinka.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the EFCC discussed further plans by the commission in bringing corruption to a stop while the Nobel Laureate winner at some point in the conversation wished him good luck, adding the words “but not the other one” to drive home the banter.

Mr. Soyinka expressed his support for the Commission’s chairman, making mention of the current probe into the diverted arms procurement funds by the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki by the commission and also mentioned the former Petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke who is currently battling Cancer stating that her condition has been used as nothing but to gain sympathy from the public.

He also urged the commission’s chairman to put strategic plans in place to arrest and rid the country of the culture of impunity and corruption.
