All hell broke loose at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Issele-Uku, Delta State when a Batch “B” corps member nearly choked his girlfriend, also a corps member, to death on Monday over a rival corps member.
According to witnesses, Jeremiah Osewe saw his girlfriend Stella Omorodion with another guy at Mammy Market and became very angry.
He reportedly immediately mobilised his friends to the scene, apparently so they could come to his aid in case the situation got out of control.
It was later learnt that the rival boyfriend had been dating Omorodion before they came to the camp, unlike Osewe who met her on camp.
It was gathered that the rival boyfriend had initially been deployed to Zamfara State but redeployed to Delta, where he re-united with his old girlfriend, Omorodion, at the camp.
Osewe was said to have become so angry that he grabbed the victim by the neck, squeezing it until she nearly passed out but for the timely intervention of fellow corps members who quickly rescued her from his grip.
The camp authorities have reportedly sanctioned Osewe for indiscipline.
