Inter Milan forward, Romelu Lukaku is seeking a return to his former club Chelsea and has urged the Italian champions to accept a suitable offer from the UCL title holders, Skysports reports.

The Belgian’s stance came as Inter Milan rejected a second offer of £85m plus defender, Marcos Alonso.

The Italian champions had also rejected an initial offer for their 28-year-old striker.

However, observers believe Inter boss, Steven Zhang is looking towards an offer of between £94m (€110m) and £102m (€120m) before letting go of his prized asset.

Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester City were rumoured to be interested in signing Lukaku, after the departure of legendary striker, Sergio Aguero but the interest has since cooled off as the club closes in on Spurs’ Harry Kane.

After his side’s friendly game against Tottenham on Wednesday evening, Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel failed to directly address the transfer situation but called Lukaku a “fantastic player”.

Speaking on Lukaku’s interest in linking up with his former club, Tuchel said, “Everybody wants to come (to Chelsea) hopefully. Not everybody, unfortunately, but you can imagine that a lot of players want to come and join.

“The board is not offering players. That’s not the way it works so far. We’re talking with the board about players and if our opinions and the scouts conclude, then we target players who, in all our opinion, could make our squad stronger, which is quite a challenge to find.

“We don’t only talk about talent but also attitude because we have a strong squad and there are some players of which we think they could be a good target and good add-ons and good improvement in our squad.”

The Belgian found the back of the net 24 times to help Inter clinch the Seria A title, the first in a decade.

With title-winning coach Antonio Conte having already left amid rumour of a budget cut, Inter need may well follow up by trading other big names.

Chelsea are in the market for a big-name striker although the rumour mill had previously linked the club with Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Haaland.

Joining Chelsea from Anderlecht as a teenager in 2011, Lukaku spent three years in West London before moving on to Everton.
