Lupita Nyong’o: You don’t have to bleach your skin to validate your dreams (Video)

The Oscars were historically epic yesterday night, some of us award night connoisseurs felt that Lupita may have deserved another Oscar for her acceptance speech oratory. It was moving.

On the last day of February, the ebony actress divulged the contents of an intimate email from a female fan which touched her and reminded her of her dark skin struggle during her earlier days.

Quoting the email, she said, “I want to take this opportunity to talk about beauty, black beauty, dark beauty. I received a letter from a girl and I’d like to share just a small part of it with you: “Dear Lupita,” it reads, “I think you’re really lucky to be this Black but yet this successful in Hollywood overnight. I was just about to buy Dencia’s Whitenicious cream to lighten my skin when you appeared on the world map and saved me.”

Only yesterday Lupito who began her professional acting career in 2008 and graduated from the Yale School of Drama in 2012 won an Oscar for best supporting actress at the 86th Academy Awards.
