The Lagos State Police command has arrested a housemaid for allegedly stealing her employer’s jewelry.
Freedom Maddy aka Comfort was said to have only worked for five days at her employers’ Maryland residence before she ransacked her employers’ room and stole jewelry valued at N20 million .
The 25-year-old suspect allegedly sold the jewelry to one Haruna Bawa, a gold dealer at Bariga area for the sum of N1.3 million.
Upon interrogation, Comfort surprisingly owned up to the crime. She said she decided to steal her madam’s jewelry the fifth day she was employed with the active connivance of Dennis (Joseph Obong) who introduced her to her employer.
Comfort who hails from Cross river state, claimed she succeeded in gaining entry to madam’s room because she knew where she kept the key.
She further revealed that she given the sum of N300, 000 from the proceeds of the sale of the loot. Comfort claims she used the money to pay her elder sister’s hospital bill when she took ill, but unfortunately, she passed on.
Comfort, her husband and the buyer of the jewelry are currently being quizzed by detectives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos.
