A 25-year-old student, Brian Isiko, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment for stalking and professing “too much love” for a female lawmaker.

The Ugandan man reportedly sent several love text messages to the Kabalore Woman Member of Parliament, Ms Sylvia Rwabwoogo, promising to protect and love her.

The complainant, Mrs Rwabwoogo said the suspect, whom she did not know, initially made calls and professed love to her, which made her bar his call.

However, she said the accused resorted to sending text messages and sent at least 10 text messages.

In one of the messages tendered as exhibit in court, Isiko said he had “too much love” for the lawmaker.

The accused also texted: “I love you so much and want to protect you. My love is for you alone and since there is no one taking care of you, I will do it. I have realised that you are in deep trouble.”

Isiko confessed to sending the messages after initially pleading not guilty and was convicted on charges of cyber harassment and offensive communication.

Throughout the court proceeding, the accused reportedly grinned sheepishly while staring at the lawmaker, which made the judge, Ms Gladys Kamasanyu, to get angry and sentence him to two years in prison.
