Man, 25, sentenced to 2 months imprisonment for house-breaking

An Ilorin Magistrate Court on Thursday sentenced Mr Sodiq Habeeb to two months imprisonment for house-breaking and theft.

The Magistrate, Mrs Molara Idiagbon, who convicted the man, who resides at Ile Magaji Ngeri, Surulere area of Ilorin, however, gave him an option of N4, 000 fine.

The Prosecutor, Mr Ajide Kehinde of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), had told the court that the incident was reported at the Intelligence and Investigations Department of the corps, Okolowo, Ilorin, on Feb. 8.

Kehinde had said that the investigation revealed that the convict broke into the home of one Mr Lukman Obabukore of Odore community, Okolowo, through the roof of the house.

He said that the accused was caught in the act, which contravened section 346 and 286 of the Penal Code.

Kehinde said that further investigation through the convict’s statement revealed that one Iya Awwal gave him the order to carry out the offence, because he was owing her some money.

The convicted pleaded guilty to the charge. (NAN)
