Man, 30, gets 1year jail term for malicious damages

An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Friday sentenced a 30-year-old man, Sunday Anthony, to one year imprisonment for malicious damages.

The convict, who lives at No.23, Ogunleye Street, Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, was arraigned on a one-count charge of malicious damages

The Senior Magistrate, Mr S.O. Banwo, who sentenced the convict after finding him guilty of the charge, did not give him an option of fine.

Prosecutor Chudu Gbesi had told the court that the defendant committed the offence in November 2015 at about 9 p.m. at Ajibawo in Ota.

He said that the defendant damaged a Mack Truck GGE 79 X valued two million naira belonging to Sule Kareem.

Gbesi said that the offence contravened Sections 249, 351 and 451 of the Criminal Code of Ogun 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge
