A 30-year-old man, Musa Abubakar, is presently cooling his feet in police detention in Rivers State following allegations of defiling his nine-year-old stepdaughter.

The act reportedly occurred at the suspect’s residence in Rupokwu in Obio Akpor Local Government Area.

The Jigawa State indigene, who is being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), told officers that he started having carnal knowledge of his stepdaughter because  “my wife refuses to sleep with me, complaining of weakness.”

But the victim disclosed that her stepfather started his unholy dalliance with her by sticking his fingers into her private part when she was four years old.

She said she told her mother about Abubakar’s action the first time, but got beaten for sharing the information.

The victim said she decided to tell her mother again after she assured her that she would not get beaten.

She disclosed that after telling her mother, she was examined by neighbours and the matter was reported to the police.

The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident on Wednesday.

He said Abubakar would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
