A 60-year-old man, Ogungbemi Adenuga, who allegedly assaulted his neighbour, Dauda Adeoye, with a plank, on Friday appeared at an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State.

Adenuga, a resident of Andokia Area, Owode Elede, in Ikorodu Area of Lagos, is standing trial on a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace.

The prosecutor, Sgt. John Iberedem, said that the accused on May 13 alleged that the complainant stole his fowl.

Iberedem said that when the complainant returned from work, he confronted the accused on why he accused him but the accused battered him with a plank and broke his right arm.

“The complainant was badly injured on his left arm by the accused and was taken to the hospital for treatment,’’ he said.

Iberedem said the offences contravened Sections 168 and 246 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mr Wahab Balogun, granted the accused a bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Balogun said that the sureties must be the accused blood relation, working in a reputable organisation and must also produce an evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case until Oct.6 for mention. (NAN)
