A man from Toronto, Canada, Adrian Pearce, has finally found out what was inside a Christmas gift his ex-girlfriend gave to him in 1970.
The 60-year-old man kept the gift from his ex, Vicki Allen, unwrapped for 47 years after she broke his heart.
He was said to have kept the gift under a Christmas tree every year for decades until his wife of 40 years got annoyed and banned it from their Christmas tree.
Pearce, New York Post reported, also resisted constant pressure from his children to open the gift.
The gift
However, a local newspaper carried the news and Vicki Allen read about it after a mutual friend sent her a link to the story.
Allen, who was also married, reached out to Pearce and offered to unwrap the gift as part of a charity event to raise funds for the needy.

She disclosed that she dumped Pearce after she met another boy who kissed her while searching out the gift for Pearce.
She said, “It was a small book called ‘Love Is: New Ways To Spot That Certain Feeling’ with cartoons and sayings about love. The irony is extreme.”
Pearce said, “She gave me a present at the same time and I took the present home.
“I had a long walk home and I was all upset and angry, and all the things you feel when somebody breaks up with you.”
He added, “Any ill feelings I have towards Victoria are long gone, I got over it, I’ve been married for 40 years.
“And now we’ve become friends so the fact that it’s says Love Is is actually rather appropriate now.”
