Man arrested for parading dad’s severed head on street
A Ukrainian man, Dmitry Ponomarenko has been arrested after he paraded the streets blood-soaked, and with intestines wrapped around him while dangling a severed head.
The 30-year-old was nabbed after his neighbours told police that they saw him walking naked out of his apartment with the severed head of his 53-year-old father, Igor Ponomarenko.
The incident occurred on Wednesday in the town of Odessa, Southern Ukraine.
One of the neighbours called emergency services after he saw naked and bloodied Dmitry calmly sit on a bench and light a cigarette.
The resident said he saw the suspect “covered with blood and wrapped in guts man, holding a severed head, came out of the entrance, sat down on a bench and lit a cigarette”.
Police raced to the scene and the suspect was nabbed while he was hitting parked cars with the severed head of his father.
A search of his apartment turned up dead bodies of two males.
Daily Mail reported that the beheaded corpse of Igor Ponomarenko was lying on a bed, while another body that belonged to the family’s friend Aleksandr Demchenko, 32, was sliced open and gutted.
When asked by police why he killed the victims, Ponomarenko said it was because ‘he had to’ and that ‘he is a god who is not worshipped’, witnesses said.
