Man docked for allegedly receiving stolen armoured cable

The Police on Wednesday arraigned one Khalid Hussani in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on a count charge of receiving stolen armoured cable.

The prosecutor, Florence Avhioboh, told the court that one Isaac Terna, of Kwochason Global Guard Limited, Idu Karmo, reported the matter at the Karmo Police Station on March 3.

She said the complainant reported that on March 2, the defendant stole an armoured cable valued at N427,500 from the company.

Avhioboh said that two persons arrested confessed that they sold the cable to the defendant and some of the items were recovered from him.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 317 of the Penal Code.

The defendant denied committing the offence.

The counsel to the defendant, Charity Nwosu, applied for his bail and assured the court that the defendant would not jump bail.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N200,000 and a surety in like sum and  adjourned the case until April 11, for hearing. (NAN)
