A 39-year-old man, Bola Owueni, on Thursday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, over alleged theft of a gold necklace worth N100,000.

Owueni, whose address was not provided in court, was charged on one count but he denied committing the offence.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Ade Adeosun, told the court that Owueni stole the necklace from Mr Joseph Ade on Jan. 3 in Esepe Village, Badagry.

“The complainant caught him and handed him over to the police,’’ the prosecutor said.

He noted that the offence contravened Section 285 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Lazarus Hotepo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 and two sureties each in like sum, and adjourned the case to Feb. 12 for mention. (NAN)
