Man in court over destruction of Osun Assembly vehicles

A 28-year-old man, Ifeanyi Eze, on Monday appeared before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged destruction  of vehicles belonging to the Osun State House of Assembly (OSHA).

Eze is facing an eight-count charge bordering on malicious damage and theft but he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Joshua Oladoye, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Aug. 12 and Aug. 13 at the assembly complex in Osogbo.

Oladoye added that the accused conspired with others still at large to steal brain box of a Toyota Hiace and damage side mirrors and windscreens of three Toyota Corolla, five hummer buses.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 451, 383(1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2018.

The Magistrate, Mrs Falilat Sodamade, granted the accused bail in the sum of N2 million and one surety in the like sum.

Sodamade ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and have evidence of tax payment.

She also directed that the surety must be a civil servant of grade level 15 and above and reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

The magistrate adjourned the case until Nov. 26 for substantive hearing. (NAN)
