Man lands in police custody after raping girl with Down syndrome

Police officers in Ogun State have apprehended one Seyi Ajiboye, a 25-year old resident in the state after he reportedly raped a young girl with Down syndrome.

According to Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun Police Command’s spokesperson, the fourteen years old girl was on her way back from church.

Upon citing her, Seyi unlawfully took her into his room and forcefully had sex with her.

When she got home, her parents who suspected that she was not her usual self, asked her some questions before she divulged what had happened to her on her way back.

Her parents swung to action immediately by reporting the incidence to the police.

The Police spokesperson further stated, “The victim complained that while she was coming from a church service at Oluwalogbon street Abule Ijoko, the suspect who resides in the area lured her into his room, forcefully removed her underwear and had carnal knowledge of her without her consent. He increased the volume of his radio making it impossible for people around to hear her (victim) screaming.

“On the strength of the report, the DPO Agbado Division, CSP Olatunji Omonijo led his detectives to the area where the suspect was arrested. He has since made a confessional statement to the effect that he actually committed the crime. The victim has been taken to the hospital for medical treatment and report.”
