Matawalle urges judges not to be lenient with bandits

The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, has appealed to judges in the state not to take it lightly with bandits being prosecuted in their courts.

Matawalle said that the judges must show patriotism by not showing leniency in their sentencing of convicted bandits, noting that this would help eradicate the menace of banditry in the state.

The Zamfara governor stating this Thursday evening while hosting the legislative and judicial arms of government to a Ramadan fast break at his residence in Gusau.

Lauding the legislature and judiciary for maintaining a cordial working relationship with his administration, Matawalle said that this has contributed immensely to the successes recorded by his government.

The governor told the judicial officers that his administration had procured brand new vehicles that would be handed over to magistrates and Shariah court judges.
