Meet The First Ever Olympics Refugee Team

The 2016 Olympics holding in Rio, Brazil has welcomed the first ever team of athletes who belong to no nation in particular.

The 10-member team made up of five South Sudanese refugees, two Syrian refugees, two Congolese refugees and one Ethiopian refugee arrived at the airport in Rio de Janeiro on Friday.

The team marks the first time ever in which the International Olympic Committee IOC has formed a team for athletes under refugee status.

The first ever team made up of refugees are expected to compete in games such as swimming, Judo amongst other competitions.
