Barca raced to an early lead thanks to the defender, Clement Lenglet before Kiko restored parity for the visitors then Messi set up the Chilean, Aturo Vidal for Barcelona’s second goal, before he went on to add third and fourth goals and Luiz Suarez rounded up the rout for the home side.

Barcelona were absent from the action last weekend after their El Classico match against Real Madrid was postponed due to security issues around the Catalina area as a result of an ongoing protest but the players put all that rest to good mesmerizing Real Valladolid.

Barcelona needed a win to go top after Atlethico Madrid passed up the chance to go two points clear at the top. The win would only have brought Barca within two points of their fierce rival but a sloppy Atlethico could only manage a draw against Alves.
