Lionel Messi has emerged winner of the 2017/2018 European Golden Shoe after scoring the highest goal in the season.
The Argentine scored a total of 34 goals, surpassing Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
Ronaldo netted only 24 goals while Mohamed Salah and Tottenham’s Harry Kane scored 32 and 30 respectively.
In the last game of the season against Real Sociedad at Camp Nou, Messi was brought on late into the match which ended 1-0 in favour of Barcelona.
With his 34-goal tally, Messi has now reached the 30-goal mark in La Liga for seven seasons, the most by any player.
