Military Special Unit Kills 2 Boko Haram Commanders

Two Boko haram Commanders are said to have been killed during a gun battle with men of the Military Special Operation Unit in Mubi, Adamawa State on Tuesday.

The unit Commanding Officer, Operation, Lt. Col. Beyidi Martins, stated this in Mubi.

While briefing newsmen, Lt. Col. Martins said the unit had made a successful progress in containing the activities of the sect and other miscreants in the state.

He said, “Two notorious Boko Haram field commanders, Abubakar Ya’u and Muhammed Bama, declared wanted, had been killed by the special operation unit, Mubi.”

The collective effort of security operatives and the citizens, he added, led to the killing of the commanders.

The Military Spokesman recounted that, “On July 30, the unit received a call from some good citizens that there was an attack going on at a Mubi Bureau de Change, when some armed miscreants invaded the area.

“On arrival, the Special Operation Unit personnel cordoned the area.  Sighting the army, the terrorists opened fire on them.

“During the exchange, six suspects were arrested while four escaped with injuries, and later, their corpses were found.’’

He added that security operatives during the operations, recovered four Russian-made AK47, 500 live ammunition, N3m and 5.4m CFA from the terrorists.
