Mimiko Urges Workers to ‘Embrace Agriculture’ to Increase their Income

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has said that although the state will not fire workers despite the harsh economic situation in the country, they should embrace agriculture to augment their income.

Mimiko, who addressed the workers at the government secretariat in Akure, the state capital assured the workers that the state will find alternative means to boost economy.

He said “I can assure you that I will not retrench workers in the year 2016 despite the economic meltdown as a result of the fall in the price of crude oil worldwide.”

He also advised them to be “creative to add value to the system. The year 2016 is the year to truly diversify the nation’s economy in order to survive this critical time of economic meltdown.”

The deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo while addressing journalists in Akure also said that the Peoples Democratic Party has no serious opposition in the state.

Oluboyo said “I don’t see any party coming up to give us a serious fight. Our party has done a lot as far as development is concerned in Ondo State. We have overwhelming supporters and we have a lot of projects that are ongoing and before the end of this administration, all the ongoing projects will be completed by God’s grace.”
