The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs says it will offer free Heath service outreach to people in the nine oil bearing states from November, 2016.

The Minister, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday that the ministry was collaborating with the Association of Nigerian Neurosurgeons.

“This intervention is expected to diagnose and offer first hand treatment to persons with terminal ailments and common health challenges,” Usani said

Usani said the programme was organised purposely for the people of the region as a pay back measure for their immense contributions to the economy of the nation.

He said the free healthcare programme was at the expense of the ministry and it would cover treatments of all kinds.

The minister said that the people in the remote and catchment areas would not be left out, adding that arrangement had been made to ensure the success of the programme.

“It is the responsibility of the ministry to bring qualitative health services to the doorstep of the people in the mandated areas.

“And that is why the ministry is putting necessary measures for the realisation of the programme.

“Our target covers those with minor and severe ailments because health is wealth,” Usani said. (NAN)
