Missing Nigerian Medical Student’s Body Found In Lake Michigan

A body pulled out of the Lake Michigan near Promontory Point Park on Sunday, May 8 has been identified to be that of a missing Nigerian medical student who was on a two-year rotation at Jackson park Hospital and Medical Centre in Chicago.

The deceased, a 28-year-old Ambrose Monye, was a medical student in his fourth-year at Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Centre in Chicago.

He was reported to have been missing for two weeks before authorities pulled out his body from the lake.

According to family members, Monye was last seen on April 21 walking towards the University of Chicago’s John Crerar Library, a medical research library located at 5730 S. Ellis Av.

His younger brother said: “He’s just four weeks from his goal. His tickets to graduation are already bought for the ceremony. He ordered his cap and gown and everything,”.

He also added that the lights in his apartment were on and his refrigerator was full of groceries when the police went to check on him following his filed missing report.

The brother of the medical student who was billed to graduate in a few weeks told NBC before his body was found: “I still have hope that my brother is out there, but it’s hard to be optimistic since it’s been so long.”

According to the Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Officer Nicole Trainor while speaking which News one, “He has been identified and now it’s a death investigation,”

She added: “It’s an investigation to determine the cause of the death.”
