Mixed Reactions trail Report of alleged plot to replace Osinbajo

There are unconfirmed reports recently circulating in the media arena about a purported plot to remove Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo as running mate to President Muhammad Buhari in 2019. As the revelations of these alleged plans unfold, there have been mixed reactions.

It is hard to imagine that barely 2 years into his regime, President Buhari will be considering replacing his Vice President, who was recommended by his now enstranged ally, Bola Tinubu. Pundits believe it is another part of the plot being orchestrated to pull down Tinubu and consolidate power for the Presidential cabal within the APC and the President in Nigeria.

The Daily Independent, citing a close source in the All Progressives Congress (APC), reported that the possibility of Osinbajo running on a joint ticket with Buhari in 2019 is very remote because of the close ties the current vice-president has with Bola Tinubu.

He named the minister of solid minerals Kayode Fayemi and a former governor of Abia state Orji Uzor Kalu as likely replacements for Yemi Osinbajo.

Recently, Orji Uzor Kalu, who just joined APC had said President Buhari has fulfilled his promises to him. Could he be reffering to a secret plan to make him Vice President? Only time will tell.

However, Nigerians have begun faulting Buhari’s alleged plan to swap Osinbajo for another candidate.

Some have also faulted the choice Orji Uzor Kalu as the vice-president of the country, citing his corruption as a hindrance.
