Mohbad Honoured Posthumously at 17th Headies, Wife and Son Receive Award

Late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, was posthumously honoured at the 17th Headies Awards on Sunday night, winning the Best Street-Hop Artiste award for his hit single Ask About Me.

Mohbad’s wife and young son, Liam, took to the stage at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos to receive the award on his behalf, drawing a standing ovation from the audience. The emotional moment highlighted the profound impact the late artist continues to have on fans and the music industry.

In addition to the Best Street-Hop honour, Mohbad’s collaboration with singer Chike on the track Egwu won the Viewers’ Choice Award. He also received multiple posthumous nominations, including Best Collaboration and Afrobeats Single of the Year for Egwu.

The ceremony featured a heartfelt tribute to Mohbad, celebrating his contributions to Nigerian music and reflecting on the void his untimely death has left in the industry.
