Moral Lesson From Ogun Election: Stay Humble And Choose Your Battles – By Daniel Adeleye

Ogun Governor, Ibikunle Amosun

Ibikunle Amosun wanted to be a kingmaker like Jagaban without understanding the laws required in being a political powerhouse like Tinubu. Just like Tinubu, you must be perceived as humble with many foot soldiers ready to die for you and allowing your enemies to win some while you count your loses and re-strategise to win the future battles.

Tinubu lost in Ondo and Kogi, but did he make much fuss about it? No. He influenced the choice of the next party chairman. When last did you hear of Oyegun? There are some battles you don’t even fight because even though you win, you will never win the war.

He (Amosun) didn’t choose his battles wisely. How can you want to fight the National Leader, Vice President and a former Governor of your state, Osoba, after having lost the primaries to their camp?

Amosun is too proud just like Ajimobi, only that Ajimobi doesn’t exhibit his pride towards the elite but common man. Amosun jumped to Facebook to insult Tinubu after the Ogun State primaries and that was when I knew he’d lost it. He compared himself to Tinubu because they started politics the same time, adding that he’s not afraid of him. Something even Baba Akande, Osoba and many others that started politics before Tinubu dare not say. We might be mates but if God chooses to raise you beyond the rest of us then we must celebrate you.

Ogun people collected his money and didn’t vote him. Tinubu crushes such people to finish especially when you don’t recognise his superiority in this game.

Amosun would have risked losing his senate seat considering this result but for his closeness to President Buhari, he won’t.

But bet me, he is not getting any leadership role in the senate. Sycophants and wailers were praising Saraki to high heavens then without knowing that he can only win the battle and not the war. Wouldn’t he have loved to be a senator and be handpicking Kwara governor than being a one-time senate president?
