Mugabe- Family Clash With Government Over Burial Plans

The family of late Zimbabwean former President Robert Mugabe  has disagreed with the government over where to bury the deceased. The remains of Mugabe who died in a Singaporean hospital on Sep  6, 2019, are expected in his home country on Wednesday for a befitting National burial.

The family would like to bury their beloved in his village, Kutama. The government, however, are of a different opinion. They would like to bury him at the National Heroes Acre Monument outside Harare, where most of Zimbabwe’s national heroes especially those who fought against the white minority rule, are buried.

The citizens of Zimbabwe have been confused about when and where they would pay their last respects to the country Founder.  

Newsmen report that mourners were seen in Mugabe’s rural home looking uneasy while village chiefs were and clan chiefs were having a meeting with government officials deciding the fate of Mugabe’s burial.

A family member who spoke under the condition of anonymity told News reporters, Robert Mugabe died a bitter man after being ousted in 2017 by the army and his former deputy.

He further said Mugabe felt betrayed after the people he trusted even with his life turned against him, adding that this caused him the bitterness that dented his legacy.

Mugabe was revered as a Liberator who freed his people from white minority rule. At the same time, he was vilified by others who are of the opinion he wrecked one of Africa’s most promising economies, ruthlessly crushing his opponents.

Robert Gabriel Mugabe was a revolutionary Zimbabwean  Leader who died at the age of 95.
