Mulan’s Live Action Movie to be released in 2018

Do you remember Mulan?

images-27    We are finally going to experience Disney’s live-action film for Mulan. The studio announced yesterday  that the movie, which is being fast-tracked, is slated for a Nov. 2, 2018, release in theaters.

Disney has also launched a global search for a Chinese actress to play the iconic role of Mulan, which suggests that the studio has heard fans’ pleas to see an Asian Mulan according to E! Online.

The studio first announced the project in March 2015. Disney purchased a script from writing duo Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek with Chris Bender and J.C. Spink attached to produce the film which centers on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, the female warrior who was the main character in the 1998 animated film.

A director for the film has not been revealed.

This is not the first live-action feature that Disney is taking on. It successfully brought Maleficent, The Jungle Book and Cinderella, among other titles, to life on the big screen, and is currently preparing for the release of the live-action Beauty and the Beast, which opens March 17 and stars Emma Watson.
