Muslims Should Write A Will Before Their Death – Cleric

1 Min Read

Muslims have been urged to write their will before their death to prevent a situation of rancour and in-fighting among members of their family.

A prominent Islamic cleric, Bashir Mohammed-Sarki made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lafia, Nassarawa State on Saturday.

He said that writing a will was consistent with the commandment of Allah, who abhors disagreement and conflict.

The cleric stated that crisis over inheritance by members of a dead Muslim’s family is caused by lack of a valid document to state who gets what.

Mohammed-Sarki also implored all concerned to keep the peace whenever a valid will of a dead Muslim is produced, and respect the wishes of the dead without question.

“People must obey the commandment of Allah and write a Will for the benefit of the families they leave behind. The Will gives details on who gets what from the properties left behind and prevents conflict among family members,” he noted.

Furthermore, he urged all Muslims to adhere to the teachings of the Quran and Prophet Mohammed, stating that adherence to the teachings will bring peace to all.

  • The Cleric lacks full knowledge on Islamic law of Inheritance. A Muslim doesn’t determine what he wants his children to have on his demise. Allah has shared everything of inheritance in the Qur’an. If Muslims follow it, they will have peace.
