N9.4 Billion Airport Security Deal Investigated By EFCC For Misappropriation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is investigating the paper trail of the sum of N 9.4 billion   earmarked for installing of security  devices at 22 airports across the Country.

In the course of the investigation  the Commission were able to trace the sum of N 3.9 billion out of the contract sum to a company owned by Senator Stella Oduah a former Aviation minister,

Five other companies identified as Broadwaters Resource Company Limited, Sobora International Limited, Global Offshore  and Marine Limited, Tip Top Global Resources Limited and Crystal TV.

A total of 61 individuals have been  interrogated by EFCC over allegations of involvement in misappropriation of the said money.   ‘

Armed with a Court order the Commission is authorized to impound six dredging vessels, quarry equipment and some equipment owned by Crystal TV.

The commission has set up a team to interrogate  Senator Stella Oduah over her connection with the goings on concerning the handling of the airport security funds.

“We are set for the ex-Ministers grilling, it is left for her to keep to the appointment date which she fixed .” said a top brass at the Commission.

Senator Oduah had earlier been invited three times by the  EFCC for an interview. The interview s scheduled for the 13th June 2017, 29th June 2017 and 13th November 2017 were never conducted as she never showed up on those listed appointment dates.

In a letter written by the senator to the Commission, she indicated her willingness to come for an interview on January 29 2018. The commission while acknowledging receiving the letter pointed out she had no intention of honoring the appointment as she wrote them another letter stating she would not be available due to official travel engagements requiring her to travel overseas.

She gave her most convenient interview date as 19th  February 2018.
