Justice Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, wife of the Rivers Governor, on Friday urged Nigerians to give their best for the growth of the country.
Mrs Wike made the call during a reception held at Government House, Port Harcourt, for children participants at the 2018 National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST).
She said that contributions from different ethnic groups in the country would quicken national development.
She advised Nigerians to be their brother’s keeper and give their best in every aspect of their work for the development the country.
The governor’s wife said that the country’s diversity should serve as a source of strength, noting it would be uninteresting and boring if everyone was the same.
“It would be very boring and uninteresting if everyone is the same; we should find strength in our differences.”
Wike described Rivers State as a mini-Nigeria with different ethnic groups, adding that despite its diversity, Rivers people still unite to develop the state.
In his speech, Mr Segun Runsewe, the Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture, said that there would be less crime in the future, if Nigerian leaders invested more on children.
Runsewe said that the children participants from different states appreciated the governor’s wife for her magnanimity and motherly love.
He said that the seed of love and friendship she had sown in the lives of Nigerian children would yield positive fruits in the nearest future.
He presented an award of appreciation to her on behalf of the children who thrilled the audience with cultural dances. (NAN)
