Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley has received heavy backlash on social media following the suspension of the planned #EndSARS protest.

The protest was scheduled to hold Tuesday morning in Lagos to demand an end to the atrocities committed by the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS).

Taking to Twitter, Naira Marley wrote, “We won’t be protesting anymore because there’s a lot of changes being made right now. As a Marlian we will give them a week to see the changes and if there’s no changes we will start a mass protest. #togetherwecan”

However, he told Nigerians to join him in an Instagram live session where he would be speaking with spokesperson of Nigeria Police Force.

Nigerians who were not happy with Naira Marley’s decision seized the moment to lambast the Artiste.

These are some of the reactions culled from Twitter;

@Anambravirgin

All of you that took naira Marley seriously about the protest are actually unserious😭😂

@Biisi96

Naira Marley don carry protest go IG live, nice one. I’m surprised it took him this long to cancel it self.

At least we won’t hear about how we only protest on Twitter alone anymore.

Him coward, me coward all of us together coward 🙏

@ogbeniDipo

Naira Marley was here saying young Nigerians like online chit chat and protest. He organised something.

Then, on the morning, cancel it and says he’s having a chat with the Nigeria Police Force on Instagram. Ok.

They called Naira Marley a bad influence, locked him up and called him a menace to the society yet he’s the one they went to do an Instagram Live with to stop a protest?? 2020 is such an interesting year.

@Chimezieatasie

Imagine say Fela called off a protest at the last minute? All these guys eating off fela’s hard earned legacy no fit get mind near Fela if he was still alive…..No courage at all, small threat them don run….Let SARS continue. All man for himself.

@Barackhalogen

Lmao, putting Fela and Naira Marley in the same sentence is not advisable tho. Fela is a Pan African. Naira Marley is an attention seeker.
