U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Ms Samantha Power has said that the United States government will help Nigeria figure out how to end fuel scarcity and provide succour for the Nigerian people.

Almost one year after coming in to power, the Muhammad Buhari led administration has been able to surmount basic challenges facing the people, instead Nigerians have been driven further into untold hardship, never before seen in the history of the West African country.

Ms. Samantha Power, who was in the country to discuss ways to tackle the Boko Haram insurgency plaguing the country and the region at large, was struck by the unbecoming sight of fuel queues littering all geographic regions of the country. She immediately began to empathize with ordinary Nigerians and said she would do her best to see what her government can do to help Nigerian leaders finally figure out how to supply fuel to the people.

Her words: “Just last night when I was coming from the airport, I saw long lines at petrol stations here in Nigeria.

“And I really feel for the people of this country, who are going through this difficult economic time.

“And I think this is something the embassy has promised to offer whatever technical advice, counsel and technical assistance that we can offer.

“But we know that some of the best minds in Nigeria are thinking about that, including the ministers in this government,”
