Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Muhammad Abdallah has traveled to Thailand alongside the current governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu for a workshop organized to teach how to grow medicinal cannabis.
According to reports, the workshop began yesterday with the objective of educating attendants on the process of planting that particular specie of cannabis, extracting oil from, and then getting the proper license.
During one of the sessions at the workshop, the Ondo State governor iterated that his state is unarguably where the largest farms of cannabis can be found in Nigeria, adding that the decision by the Thailand government to organize the workshop is commendable.
He said, “we are here to study how cannabis can be of more advantage to the state and Nigeria at large just the way the Thai Government has done. Cannabis is used for medical purposes; how can it be cultivated for specific purposes and not be abused?”.
Equally, Akeredolu’s associate at the event, Col. Abdullah, explained that different bodies and governments around the world have begun to use Cannabis to produce drugs, food items, among others.
The two Nigerian reps later took a tour to the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science at Naresuan University.
There, they were shown the pharmaceutical benefits of Cannabis, as well as the ways in which it can be controlled.
