NDLEA Rates Gboko As The Highest Producer Of Indian Hemp In Nigeria

The head of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Benue State, Mr. Samuel Azigi, has rated Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State as the highest producer and dealer in marijuana popularly known as Indian hemp.

Azigi revealed this while parading a 42-year-old suspect who allegedly cultivated over 2.5 hectares of Indian hemp amounting to 271 kilogramme at Ikyurav-ya area of Kwande Local Government.

The suspect, Terlumun Adzege, owned up to newsmen that he had been in the business for over five years for his “master” who is still at large.

Azigi revealed that that logistics had been the problem of the command but expressed the hope that government would soon come to its aid.

He added that against all odds, the agency has been able to rehabilitate over 62 drug addicts in the state.

Similarly, the NDLEA boss also disclosed that the agency impounded 45,000 litres of locally produced gin popularly called Ogogoro worth over N4.7m from a dealer in Zaki-Biam area of Benue state.
