American star, Nelly Furtado who strives hard to keep her private life away from the prying eyes of the media has reportedly split from her husband of 8 years.
The singer made this known in an interview on Wednesday where she confirmed that she is now single.
She said during the interview: “I am single now,” while confirming her availability to mingle.
Nelly Furtado during the interview on ITV’s Loose Women noted that the secret split is not helping her at all.
She added while speaking on her split from Demacio Castellon last summer, “someone here needs to update my Wikipedia. It’s not helping my dating life!”
The 38 year old singer who got married to the sound engineer in 2008 further said: “I went through an emotionally difficult time last summer and I actually wrote and sung myself songs to get through it,”
Furtado, with her sixth studio album, The Ride, in the works said: “I would sing to myself while I drove on these long drives, and I thought to myself, ‘I’m so lucky that I can write songs because I can soothe myself with them.'”
On how her daughter is taking the divorce, she said: “Sometimes you just want to sit home and bake some muffins for your daughter. I need to stay mentally and emotionally and physically well for my daughter.”
