Nemesis: Chelsea Target Lukaku, Lines Up Double His Transfer Fee

In a funny twist not uncommon in the game of football, Chelsea are believed to be interested in resigning Belgian forward, Romelu Lukaku.

To achieve this, the Blues are prepared to cough out double the $28 million they got when they sold in to Everton, The Sun reports.

Lukaku’s contract with the Toffees expires in July 2019, after he signed a contract in July 2014.

Before the deal, he had been on loan at the Merseyside club between September 2013 and June 2014.

The 22-year-old is one of the most prolific strikers in England at the moment, and has already netted 23 goals in all competitions for Everton, including a massive 18 in the league.

He was equally on target in Saturday’s 3-2 loss to West Ham.

It is believed that Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich remains an admirer of the player and technical director Michael Emenalo has been planning to watch more of his games.

The failure to defend the title they won last season is believed to be fuelling plans for a major shake-up at the club and Lukaku remains a major target.
